Ad Optimum: A Look Back at the Most Insightful Ads of 2016

With much of the world loathing the calendar year that was 2016, our ads took it upon themselves to reflect our desire for a brighter tomorrow. Old Spice’s take on masculinity and rocket-propelled vehicles proved that dreams are worth pursuing (albeit in a safer manner), a point then driven home by John Lewis’s holiday advert, which found a boxer yearning to fly no matter the consequences. OK Go reminds us that you can have just as much fun watching an ad as they had making one, and H&M, with the help of Wes Anderson, shows us that even in the face of adversity, we can always create our own happiness if we believe hard enough. Life is known to rear its ugly head once in awhile, but these ads reminded us that, no matter the circumstances, tomorrow is a new day.
