Honda has announced that for the third consecutive year, they’ll be taking home a prestigious North American “of the Year” award via their new 10th generation Accord.
The award is presented to automakers who exhibit excellence in the fields of innovation, design, and safety, among other criteria, in three categories: Car, Utility, and Truck. Now in its 24th year, the award is a universal mark of excellence in the automotive field, with 60 professional automotive journalists on the judging panel, representing television, radio, magazines, newspapers, and industry websites.
As the best-selling car in America, the Accord is no stranger to the spotlight, racking up thirty-two straight Car and Driver 10Best awards throughout its illustrious history. Although it may be intimidating to take a “clean-sheet approach to reinventing America’s most popular car,” Honda has continually risen the bar with its newest lineup of vehicles. Sporting a lighter, more rigid body structure, an advanced new chassis, and the world’s first 10-speed automatic transmission for a front-drive car, the Accord is pushing the boundary of what a mid-sized sedan is capable of.
The Accord joins the Honda Civic and Ridgeline, who won the car and truck awards in 2016 and 2017, respectively. More information about the new redesigned Accord, and the rest of the Honda lineup, can be found through the official Honda press release here.
