After bringing immersive, full page ads in March to their Stories, Instagram continues to expand in the realm of mobile marketing through integration with Facebook’s Canvas.
Announced in late February, Facebook’s Canvas ads provide a full page, interactive ad experience specifically designed with mobile in mind. Users have the ability to swipe through an ad to receive more information, view short videos embedded within the ad, and follow external links to sites pertaining to the product.
Promising a “seamless extension of the full-screen experience,” Instagram sought to create more flexibility with how advertisers are able to reach out and connect with their markets, and views the integration of Facebook’s Canvas ads as another viable marketing tool.
In addition, the company announced an uploading tool that allows businesses to use their existing organic stories as ads in Power Editor and Ads Manager, and further placement optimization to run campaigns across Facebook, Instagram and Audience Network. This makes it so advertisers can now use camera features, like face filters, boomerangs, and drawing tools, to create an organic piece of media, which can then be repurposed as an ad.
