For the second year in a row, Porsche of Towson will be sponsoring Team Baltimore Racing in the Grand Prix of Baltimore this Labor Day Weekend. In celebration of its sponsorship, Porsche of Towson will be giving away prize packages that include tickets to the race and more.
“To have a local dealership as our official sponsor and partner, they have been great to work with,” said Team Baltimore Racing driver Marc Bunting, a Baltimore-area native whose racing career has included nine victories in the Rolex Grand Am Series and several American Le Mans Podiums. “They’re a first-class operation, and they really have just been a great support team for us. If we’ve needed their facility or shop for anything, they’ve offered that up. They’ve just been a great local partner.”
In addition to sponsoring the team’s No. 66 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup racecar, Porsche of Towson will also provide a Porsche Cayenne as a tow vehicle for the team’s show car, which will be taken around Baltimore throughout August, including Fort McHenry and M&T Bank Stadium for a Ravens preseason game (See photos below). The show car is wrapped in a stars-and-stripes design to commemorate the 200th anniversary of The Star Spangled Banner, which was written in Baltimore after Francis Scott Key watched the attack on Fort McHenry. The show car itself was once a winner of the 24 Hours of Daytona race.
Team Baltimore Racing also uses the opportunity that the racing spotlight gives them to highlight the good that people do in the community. They work with various non-profit organizations, including the Boy Scouts of America and the University of Maryland Medical Center for Pediatrics.
“Baltimore has a lot of great things and great people,” said Team Baltimore Racing co-founder Kieffer Rittenhouse. “We try to celebrate that and bring that whole community concept in to racing, which I think is important. It’s great for our sponsors, it’s great for the brand we’re trying to create, and it’s great for our city.”
