Instagram has finally joined the likes of Facebook and Twitter, opening up their advertising API (application programming interface) to partners, enabling marketers to buy into Instagram ads and plan automated digital ad campaigns through the photo-based social network. This is good news for businesses that would benefit from the highly visual medium.
With the release of Hyperlapse from Instagram early this week, advertisers and businesses were quickly coming up with ways to use the platform for promotion. This, obviously, is nothing new as social media continues its growth as an advertising medium.
A new social media marketing campaign is causing chills across the country. The campaign known as the “Ice Bucket Challenge” seeks to raise awareness of ALS, or Lou Gehrig’s disease. The challenge involves dumping a bucket of ice-cold water on your head, posting it to social media and challenging a friend or making a donation to the ALS foundation.
